Fine Arts at ACS Sycamore
We believe a strong elementary education develops the whole child—academically, spiritually, socially, physically, and creatively. A robust Fine Arts program is an essential part of that mission, providing students with opportunities to discover and develop the gifts and talents God has given them. Our music program builds a strong foundation through music fundamentals and theory, solfeggio, singing, movement, music history, composers, Orff instruments, ear training, pitch, rhythm, and beat. Our visual arts program develops creativity and artistic skill through drawing, painting, coloring, sculpture, art history, and the study of famous artists. Through intentional, age-appropriate instruction, students learn not only how to create, but also how to observe, listen, appreciate beauty, think critically, and express themselves confidently.
Drama and performance further expand students' opportunities to communicate, collaborate, and develop confidence through acting, storytelling, public speaking, and school productions. Throughout the Fine Arts program, students learn the value of preparation, discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and excellence. In a Christian school, these experiences also provide opportunities for students to recognize creativity as a reflection of our Creator and to understand that their abilities are gifts to be developed and used purposefully. Our goal is not simply to produce talented musicians, artists, or performers, but to cultivate creative, confident, disciplined, and Christ-centered students who can use their God-given gifts to enrich their school, their community, and the world around them.
